We've decided to limit our weekly wine finds to Ontario wines that are mostly available at the LCBO and that we enjoy with friends, food, and family. This week's wine find is the Frogpond Farm Organic Gamay Noir 2019.

About Frogpond Farm
Niagara-on-the-Lake's Frogpond Farm was established in 1996 by Heike Koch and Jens Gemmrich, and it is Ontario’s first certified organic winery.
Originally from Stuttgart, Germany, Jens brought with him a family tradition of viticulture and a deep respect for nature. Together with Heike, the couple embraced organic farming practices, transforming their 10-acre property into a thriving vineyard that now spans 30 acres through additional land leases.
Frogpond Farm takes a nature first philosophy that is seen in every aspect of their operation, from hand-tilling the soil to avoid synthetic fertilizers to using pheromone strips for natural pest control. Their approach prioritizes quality over quantity.
About Frogpond Farm Organic Gamay Noir 2019

On the nose, it offers vibrant aromas of cranberry and cherry, complemented by subtle earthy and mineral undertones.
On the palate, this Gamay Noir is lively and tangy, showcasing red fruit flavours such as cherry and raspberry with hints of spice. The wine’s medium-high acidity makes it refreshing and versatile, while its low tannins ensure an easy-drinking experience.
