Ok. While I say rosé doesn't have a season and that it is an annual wine, I am going to use the phrase "it's rosé season" in this post.
It's late spring, the sun is out, the weather is getting warmer, and all of a sudden, rosé is on the mind. Hmmm, could it be Rosé season?
Nonetheless, I set out to see what rosé wines have just hit our shelves, and I'll admit, I had a few SKUs in my hand until I saw this - the Rabl Zweigelt Rosé 2025. Now, I am quite familiar with Weingut Rabl wines, so it was a no brainer that this one would be coming home with me.

About Weingut Rabl
Weingut Rabl is a long-established family winery in Langenlois, in Austria’s Kamptal region, with roots that go back to 1750. Today, the estate is run by Rudi and Christiane Rabl, alongside the next generation.
The winery farms approximately 80 hectares of vineyards in prime locations around Langenlois, where the cool climate and mineral-rich soils contribute to wines with freshness and character. Sustainability is a core aspect of the estate’s identity, and Weingut Rabl has been certified as Nachhaltig Austria (Sustainable Austria) since 2015.
Rabl has built a strong reputation for its white wines, but the range also includes red, rosé, sweet wines, and sparkling wine. The estate has earned major recognition over the years, including IWSC honours and the Decanter Trophy.

About Rabl Zweigelt Rosé 2025
Okay, let’s talk about this wine because it’s seriously one of those instant 'mood lifter' rosés. The Rabl Zweigelt Rosé 2025 is a deep, salmon-pink rosé from Niederösterreich that just feels like summer in a glass. It’s made entirely from Zweigelt (Austria’s most planted red grape), and it’s fermented in stainless steel to keep everything pure, bright, and fruit-forward.
Right off the bat, you get this gorgeous nose of raspberry, strawberry, lemon balm, and cherry. It’s berry-driven, fresh, and super summery. The winery literally describes it as “beerig, frisch, sommerlich,” which translates to berry, fresh, summery. And honestly? That’s spot-on.
On the palate, it’s light-bodied, juicy, and crisp, with bright acidity that makes it feel extremely refreshing. It’s dry overall, but there’s this lovely, friendly fruit weight that keeps it from being sharp or thin. On your first sip, you'll note that red cherry is the star of the show, closely followed up by strawberry, pink peppercorn. The finish is clean and medium in length, making it perfect for an uncomplicated sipper. This is definitely a 'drink now' wine as it’s not built for aging, it’s built for enjoying. It’s light, it’s fun, it’s very summer.
The Rabl Zweigelt Rosé 2025 can be found at the LCBO for $24.95.
