Chenin Blanc is one of my go-to white wines. Looking for something refreshing and with character - Chenin Blanc. Looking for something to pair a flavour complex meal with - Chenin Blanc. So it is no surprise that when I find one reasonably priced and new to me, I am curious. Here enters the 2024 Le Garenne Chenin Blanc.
About Le Garenne

Le Garenne is all about capturing the easy charm of the Loire Valley and bottling it for everyday drinking, not just special-occasion flexing. Rooted in France’s “Garden of France,” the brand works with sustainably minded, family-owned growers across key Loire appellations to champion grapes like Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc, and Pinot Noir in a way that feels both classic and totally accessible. The aim is pretty simple: wines that overdeliver on quality and authenticity, while still landing at a price point that invites you to open a bottle on a Tuesday night just because.
Behind the scenes, Le Garenne is curated more like a collective than a single estate, selecting growers who farm with organic or high-environmental-value practices and who are serious about soil health, biodiversity, and low-intervention winemaking. That means things like dry farming, wild native yeast, low sulphite additions, and no tricks or additives for colour or texture. It's just a clean, transparent expression of Loire fruit and terroir. The result is a range of wines that feel very “now”: planet-conscious, food-friendly, and crafted to slide seamlessly into a more natural, ingredient-aware lifestyle without sacrificing flavour or fun.

About 2024 Le Garenne Chenin Blanc
With its pale wheat hue with green flecks, the 2024 Le Garenne Chenin Blanc bounces with white flower aromas before you even get your nose to the bowl of your glass, but when you do, it's magical.
On the nose, green apple, peach, magnolia, and flint. On the palate, its racing acidity makes itself known, closely followed by lemon curd, green apple skin, and melon, with a lingering citrus and pistachio finish. While its 10.5% ABV means it does not have the depth in texture that I love in traditional Chenin Blanc, it is incredibly light and refreshing, and it packs a newsworthy finish.
The 2024 Le Garenne Chenin Blanc can be purchased at the LCBO for $18.95 in the vintages section.
